-1 101 Z The main complex at the early Olmec ceremonial centre of San Lorenzo is a vast artificial mound, built over a natural plateau. It has been suggested that it was laid out in the form of a giant bird flying eastwards. The complex is aligned north-south and consists of a number of courts surrounded by earthen pyramids.
